Mousedown, click or text selection (with mouse or F7 caret browsing) on text of abs. pos. block unexpectedly moves scroll view to the top of document view in IE 8 beta 2

Make sure you have scrolled down a bit this webpage

Steps to reproduce

A- Do a left click (even just a mousedown) somewhere on the text of this page

B- Try to select some text with the mouse or with the keyboard (via F7 caret browsing).

Actual results in Internet Explorer 8 beta 2

A- The scroll view unexpectedly jumps/moves back to the top of document.

B- The scroll view unexpectedly jumps/moves back to the top of document. Such task is impossible to accomplish.

Expected results

A- The scroll view should not move.

B- The scroll view should not move and text selection/text highlighting should be easy to perform.

Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2.x, Firefox 3.0.4, Opera 9.62, Safari 3.2, Safari 4.0, Konqueror 3.5.10, Konqueror 4.1.1, Hv3 TKHTML alpha 16, Seamonkey 1.x, Seamonkey 2.x, NS 7.2, K-meleon 1.x, Galeon 2.0.7, Epiphany 2.22 all pass both of these 2 tests.

This bug has been reported at connect's IE beta feedback as bug 383156.

Update: this bug has been FIXED in Internet Explorer 8 Partner pre-RC1 build 6001.18344 released on December 17th 2008. Otherwise, Internet Explorer 8 Partner pre-RC1 build 6001.18344 PASSES this specific and particular testcase.
